The best advice in making gold is to get a gathering profession or two. Most new players get caught up with flights of fancy about forging their own weapons or sewing their own cloth. What these new players don’t realize is that crafting professions are expensive to level up and if you’re leveling you character along with your profession you’ll be in for a long hard and disappointing ride. The main problem such a player will encounter is a lack of gold. Not enough gold to buy healing items, not enough gold to buy crafting materials and certainly not enough gold to buy new and shiny weapons.
In World of Warcraft as in real life money is of paramount importance. Making lots of gold should start the moment you play, and you’ll not even notice you’re doing it. Get a gathering profession and gather all the herbs and minerals you see. Getting skinning might also prove to be a good choice since you get both experience and materials off the animals you kill. Save your gathered materials and sell them on a Friday or during the weekend where prices are highest and most players log on. You’ll be getting the bulk of your money this way. Also be conscientious when it comes to picking items. Get all the items you can pickup. Sell the grey items to the stores since they are meant just for that. Other items might range in value especially rare items.
Gathering professions would allow you to save a lot of money. You can ask your guildmates or crafters to give you a discount on the item you need by offering to provide the materials. Ultimately the best gatherers are less affected by auction house demand; there will almost always be someone who will buy your gathered materials. Of course it would help if you wouldn’t spend your saved money on silly things like very short term item upgrades. Just be patient and persevere and don’t forget to have fun.
