Player vs Player in World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is a game that introduces two factions consisting of the Alliance and the Horde, the Alliance consists of the Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Night Elves, Draenei and, in the next expansion, Worgen whilst the Horde consists of the Orcs, Undead, Tauren, Trolls, Blood Elves and, in the next expansion, Goblins.

The alliance and the horde are what represents the PVP or player versus player in World of Warcraft. If a player is an alliance character the player can only attack horde characters whilst if a player is a horde character they can only attack alliance characters. However one must enable their faction’s flag that can be activated in the player icon.

If they want to engage in some pvp combat against the opposite factions. This can only be done in PVE servers. In the PVP servers the players faction flag is always turned on and the player must always expect another player from the opposite faction to attack them. There are some though who camps a player of the opposite faction for their enjoyment. Camping is when a high level player kills and farms a low level player.

Since you have to go back to your corpse when you die and become a ghost to be resurrected again. The high level can abuse you can keep repeatedly killing you out of boredom and enjoyment. This can only be solved by asking a Spirit Healer from a graveyard to revive you. Although you will suffer 10% durability damage to your gear, and have to talk to a non-player character to repair your equipment. It cost a high amount of gold when your already at a high level and also you will suffer a resurrection sickness where you will have all of your stats reduced by 75% for 10 minutes thereby preventing you from continuing from your questing due to the low stats you will suffer from the resurrection sickness.

For people who want to choose a character at the start, know that the Alliance characters have a better Racials, a skill exclusively for that race, for PVP whilst the Horde characters have a better Racials for PVE environment.

Paladins as the Top PvP Class

Four of the top ten 2v2 arena teams had paladins in them. At the top level of arena competition only skill and class choice makes the difference between victory and defeat. Player versus player item choices is very limited in general. There is usually one PvP armor set for each class specialization. PvP items have extra stamina as well as resilience stats. Plate wearing characters such as warriors, death knights and paladins have a distinct edge in reducing physical damage.

Most of the top arena paladins are holy specialized. This makes a solid healer especially in 2v2. The holy paladin can take significant damage without dying. This leaves the opposing team in a quandary whether to try to kill the paladin first or his damage dealing partner. Clearly killing a paladin is no easy feat, a quick use of “Lay on Hands” or “Divine Shield” easily heals or prevents damage. Healing spells of holy paladins are both potent and have significantly shorter casting time. Holy paladins while primarily healers shouldn’t be ignored in terms of damage dealing. Holy shock is a potent spell especially since holy damage cannot be resisted or protected against. These characteristics essentially make the paladin as the top PvP class.

Paladins in general are more often retribution specialized. Retribution paladins have an excellent set of damage dealing skills and talents. It also has one of the most useful crowd control skill – “repentance.” Repentance essentially removes an opponent from the fight for almost 60 seconds. And 60 seconds is more than enough time to pummel everyone else to submission. Retribution paladins are known for its high burst damage, combined with the “Seal of Command” the damage can be dealt to 3 opponents. A series of “Crusader Strike,” Judgment of wisdom,” “Consecration,” “Divine Storm,” and “Hammer of Justice” is more than enough to knock out one or two non-plate wearing opponents in one go.

Paladins are known for their edge in player versus player combat. They are tough and excel in both healing and dealing damage. In certain instances it is virtually impossible to kill them in a one versus one scenario. They essentially have thrice their maximum health points thanks to “Lay on Hands” and Divine Shield”. This easily makes the paladin as the top PvP class.

What Makes World of Warcraft PvP Different From Other MMORPG PvPs

One of the most common activities in MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role-playing games) is PvP or player versus player battles. PvP is the act of battling against another actual game player to see who is more powerful. Lots of online gamers do PvP as it is a great measure of power. Most online games have simple PvP systems, involving only two players who battle it out. This is the norm for most MMORPGs, but one game that stands out in terms of PvP gaming is World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft is the most successful online game of all time. It boasts of 11 million plus online players and is a Guinness World Record holder for most players participating in an online-based game.

So what makes World of Warcraft so different from other MMORPGs’ PvP experience? As mentioned above, most MMORPGs have very simple PvP systems. Usually, PvP battles are done freestyle and the only reward you get from them is honor points. With most MMORPGs, all you will have at the end of the day is bragging rights. This is not the case in World of Warcraft PvP. In World of Warcraft, or WoW, there are formal venues for PvP battles. Moreover, you can do PvP in groups. The great thing about WoW PvP is that the rewards are really great. Aside from honor and realm PvP ranking, you get to accumulate PvP points. You can exchange these PvP points for gear, which you can only buy and acquire from PvP. Aside from the Arena and world PvP instances, you can also participate in unofficial independent PvP battles. These are usually just for fun. Some even bet WoW gold on fighters. If you like these lighter kinds of PvP battles, you can look for common PvP areas in friendly zones. These are usually outside main Alliance and Horde cities.

WoW PvP really is great. It’s far more complicated and rewarding as compared to other PvP systems, but you can still do lighthearted PvP battling with fellows in your faction. If you want a real PvP experience, try WoW PvP.
