World of Warcraft Blacksmith Guide

You can make a ton of profit or simply easily make your own weapons and armor in WoW by choosing the blacksmithing profession. This why we have set out to teach you how to do exactly that with this WoW Blacksmithing guide.

While many players will tell you that blacksmithing can stand on its own as a profession, I highly recommend taking advantage of mining as a secondary profession. Some players that do not like the idea of spending huge sums of money on metal blocks for their recipes will most likely prefer to get these materials through a secondary mining profession.

However, there is really no need to take on more than blacksmithing when first starting off, as mining will take a considerable amount of time. The fact of the matter is that by the time you are able to take advantage of expensive metal bars, you can just start mining as a secondary profession then.

The Blacksmithing profession in WoW can be mastered quite quickly if you take advantage of our following tips.

Let’s Begin

Like any other profession, getting your apprenticeship from a trainer will be your first step. Luckily it wont be hard to find one, just head for any city center. If you are really having a hard time finding a trainer, you will find other players will be more than happy to help you out or even take you to one. Here are some of the items you will need to collect when starting out.

You will need materials such as leather or gems the odd time, but generally you will always need some grinding stones, elemenatal/strong/and weak flux, and goal. During the early stages of the game you wont need much, however, for your first few recipes.

You wont be able to start making items with the materials and tools you have collected until you have purchased plans from a trainer. Once you have done this you can get started putting your blacksmithing profession to use. If you cannot afford the materials necessary, you will have to spend some time grinding in order to earn some gold. The process of creating new items is quite simple. Just click on the blacksmithing tab from within the Spellbook and find the recipe for the item that you want to make.

WoW Blacksmith Guide – Progressing your Skill

The first thing that I recommend doing is getting your hands on 25 sharpening stones which will be crucial for getting skills from level 1 to level 25. Those that like being frugal can easily find them, but they are also quite abundant to purchase as well. While on your way to skill level 25, these items will be necessary for all of your recipes. From there, making your way to level 65 will require around 40 rough grinding stones which should be too hard to locate. Before becoming a journeyman you will need to get to level 75. To do this you will need around 10 coarse sharpening stones.

Getting to level 100 from 76 will yet again require you to get some grinding stones, I suggest around 25. You will easily get from level 101 to 105 by making 4 to 6 silver rods. In order to create these you will need 5 bars of silver and 10 rough stones. You can get the materials you need for the silver rods by purchasing them from the auction house or vendors. However, miners can easily use their mining profession to get them.

You can make a lot of money selling these rods to other players and races that you encounter. For instance, in order to get the special Runed Silver Rod, Enchanters will first have to get their hands on a silver rod. You wont be able to sell much of what you have before this point as there simply isn’t a market. From here, creating 60 pairs of bronze leggings will be able to get you from 106 to 125. You can acquire the supplies you will need to make these by buying them, or simply combine iron and copper.

Next, get your hands on 25 heavy grinding stones, this will help you make your way to 150. You might have noticed by now that the you will be using all of the stones in the recipe for the next item you will need to create in order to level up. Get use to this process and soon enough you will be able to make Flamebane Bracers and other effective and powerful items.

You will become an expert now that you have reached level 150. This means you will have access to higher value items that you can create, although this doesn’t mean things will get easier.

The next thing you will have to do is get yourself 150 bronze bars in order to make 25 bronze leggings. This will allow you to get from 151 to 200. If yo haven’t already, this would be a good time to take up mining as a profesion as the bronze and other materials you will need to purchase can start to become quite costly. You will cut into your profits if you have to purchase all of this material. Next get yourself 25 lesser moonstones, 100 iron bars, and 50 coarse grinding stones in order to make 25 iron counterweights.

At this point getting to level 210 will require you to get around 110 sold grinding stones. Next start collecting 25 steel bars as well as 10 heavy grinding stones that will allow you make 5 golden scale bracers. Next you will need 140 steel bars and 10 solid grinding stones in order to make 20 steel plate helms, which will get you to 225. Before you do this, however, you will have to first become an Artisan.

You will find that things will start getting a lot more fun once you have become an artisan. From here you will be able to get from 226 to 235 by using the recipe above to make another 10 helms. The next thing that you will have to do is get 45 solid grinding stones and 60 mithril in order to create 15 mithril spurs. In order to move up to 260 from here you will have to get 10 dense grinding stones. The next items you will have to make include 20 thorium helms (you will need 480 thorium bars, 80 yellow power crystals, and 20 star rubies) and 5 thorium bracers (for these you will need 20 blue power crystals and 60 thorium bars).

You will not have to continue once you hit level 300, although you can if you want. A lot of players will be satisfied with their abilities at this level and not continue down the hard road to 375. However if you really want to be able to create products in demand by other high level players, it’s best to keep going in order to become a master in blacksmithing.

Having the Best Experience with Blacksmithing

Don’t forget about making other items while you are going through the process of leveling up so you can sell them later on or whenever you need money. A good way of knowing what items you will be able to sell quickly is by watching what is happening in the auction house. Whenever you find youself in need of cash for anything from leveling up to just purchasing something you have had your eye on, consider making items to sell. It can be lucrative if done right.
