Perhaps the most effective skilsl that you will have includes the ability to enchant and disenchant items, which is essentially done by adding special attributes to them.

If you are a patient player and interested in spending the time to master the profession of enchanting, you will definitely find that it pays off in the long run. Luckily, we have decided to take some time to prepare this WoW Enchanting guide that will make the process a lot easier for you.

Starting Out With the Enchanting Profession

The first thing that you are going to do, the same as with every profession, is start an apprenticeship by locating a trainer. Trainers will be abundant in every major city centre so shouldn’t be too difficult to locate. Deciding on a secondary profession will be the logical next step. There are many options available to you with enchanting, don’t limit yourself to strictly tailoring as many will suggest. However, one good thing to consider is the fact that you wont have to do much if any gathering for the enchanting profession so no need to pick mining for your secondary.

Starting out actually putting the enchanting profession to use will require recipes for enchanting as well as items to enchant. When it comes to disenchanting an item, keep in mind there is no way to undo the process and the item you disenchant will become destroyed and unusable.

How to Enchant a Bracer

Enchanting

Enchanting an item is the first thing you will have to learn to do. One of the first items you will be able to enchant is a bracer which will provide defense. You will have to collect lesser magic essence and strange dust for this recipe. A vendor or auction house will easily allow you to purchase these items if you haven’t found them elsewhere already.

To begin you will need to go to the enchanting window from within your spellbook. From here it will be quite simple as all you will have to do is follow the instructions of this recipe to enchant the item. This is an item that you will be able to enchant right from level 1.

Disenchanting

In order to get special dusts and powders for other recipes and tasks, you may need to disenchant an item. This can be easily done by selecting disenchant from within your spellbook. After you have selected disenchant, just select the item you wish to disenchant. Depending on the item it may take a minute or two longer than you might expect. Be careful, as we stated before there is no undo once you’ve disenchanted an item.

The good thing is that when you are in need of specific items or dust for recipes or other tasks, you will be able to extremely easily get them by disenchanting the right item. Here is a guide that teaches you what items and dust you will get from disenchanting different items:

  • Green Armor – Dust
  • Purple Items (from level 60 onwards) – Void Crystals
  • Green Weapons – Essence
  • Blue Items – Shard
  • Purple Items (level 60 onwards) – Nexus Crystal

Advancing Your Skills

Your next question most likely is, what do I do with enchanted items after enchanting them? Well if you are social player you will more than likely find yourself most interested in trading your enchanted items with other players. However, you can of course always head over to the auction house to sell your items as well.
