World of Warcraft Warlock Guide

Since many new players are typically interested in combat and melee fighting, the Warlock class is sometimes overlooked. However, what many players don’t realize is the warlock has the ability o be extremely powerful if used correctly. If you want to be different than the rest and play a unique class that will surprise other players, you will definitely want to go with the warlock class.

Melee combat is, admittedly, not one of the warlock’s strong points. However, that doesn’t mean that can’t be extremely effective in combat scenarios. The history of the warlock is essentially that they crossed to the dark side from the Mage class. This is the reason that their pets are demons and many of their spells have a demonic twist that can deal a ton of damage to your opponents. This is why stalking your prey and opponents and causing them damage over time is a great strategy for the warlock.

Let’s Begin

Now that you have chosen the warlock as your class, lets go over the basics of starting out in the WoW. One thing that you should always keep in mind is pets are your best friend and biggest asset as a warlock. Not only will they do much damage on your opponents for you, they will also provide support in melee combat situations in order for you to keep your distance.

You are probably starting to realize by now that the warlock is best suited staying away from close up melee combat. You will always want to make sure that you keep your distance from enemies and develop your strategy around ranged attacks and skills. Increasing your skill level quickly in the beginning is kind of essential to combat as you will your attacks and skills wont be that powerful.

You will really start to be effective with the warlock class once you reach level 40 as you will be able to get your first mount. While you will most likely be pleased with the first mount you get your hands on, it wont be long before you get an epic mount!

What you will need

Spells are what you will mainly rely on as a warlock as like we have already mentioned, melee combat should be avoided. You cannot move after casting spell, this is something you have to remember. You can easily find yourself in danger if you keep casting spells that fail because you are moving around too much.

Since you will be relying so heavily on spells, its vital that you carefully manage your mana supply. Everytime you cast your spell your mana will go down. However, you are, as a warlock, the only class capable of turning your HP into mana. Consider this when in tight situations during combat.

Choosing a Profession

Skinning, fishing, and blacksmithing are professions that you are definitely going to want to avoid as warlock. In my opinion, alchemy and herbalism are the best choices for your profession in this class. You will need special clothes for casting certain spells, so the tailoring profession can also come in handy quite often. Of course you will have to pick a secondary profession that supports your main, primary professions.

A great way to save a ton of great money as a warlock is to create and mine your own components for spells by using the alchemy and mining professions. Making potions for yourself will be quite easy if you combine alchemy with the herbalism professions. It’s also the best way to earn a lot of cash as a warlock!
